Meizu announced in April this year that it will fully embed Alipay+'s offline payment technology in the new generation of smart glasses. The product is also equipped with advanced optical waveguide display, voice noise reduction and camera code scanning technology to further improve the payment experience and the practicality of glasses.
Guo Peng, general manager of Meizu XR business unit, pointed out that the offline payment function of smart glasses launched this time not only improves the practicality and attractiveness of smart glasses, but also brings technological breakthroughs to the augmented reality industry.
Alipay+, a unified wallet access platform under Ant International, cooperates with Chinese technology company Meizu to launch the payment function of smart glasses electronic wallets and complete the world's first actual transaction in Hong Kong, marking the first implementation of this payment technology.
According to a statement on Thursday (June 19), the transaction was completed through the Hong Kong e-wallet application AlipayHK on the StarV Snap smart glasses launched by Meizu, marking a new breakthrough in the field of electronic payments for augmented reality (AR) devices.
Yang Jiangming, chief innovation officer of Ant International, said: "After the payment function is embedded, smart glasses are expected to become the next generation of personal smart terminals after mobile phones."
Alipay+ said that this payment feature is expected to be launched on its global cooperative wallet network from 2025. At present, Alipay+ has connected to 36 e-wallets and national QR code payment systems around the world, covering more than 1.7 billion users, 100 million merchants, and covering more than 70 markets.
Users can scan QR codes or voice commands through smart glasses to complete seamless payment. The related functions combine Alipay+'s artificial intelligence (AI) voice interaction, intent recognition and voiceprint authentication technology.
