Nowadays, many people keep cats at home. Seeing the cats so cute, they can't help but want to masturbate them, but do you know that cats are sick?
The reporter learned from the Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital on February 10 that the hospital recently admitted a patient with a rare cat scratching disease caused by raising a pet cat. The patient was initially given a lymph node mass.
Two months before, the patient Ms. Wang had a swollen lymph node in the right groin, as big as an egg. Later, two small lymph nodes appeared in the left groin. Ms. Wang first came to the hematology department of northern Jiangsu Hospital for diagnosis and treatment. After the hematologist ruled out the lymphoma, she suspected that it was lymph tuberculosis. She suggested that Ms. Wang go to the New District Branch of the Jiangsu People's Hospital for treatment and asked for advice and contacted relevant experts from the New District Branch.
After receiving the treatment, experts from the New District Branch of the North Jiangsu People's Hospital identified and ruled out lymph nodes. It is recommended that Ms. Wang do a pus gene sequencing test. Faced with this difficult and complicated disease, Ms. Wang went out to seek medical treatment and tried external application of folk remedies to treat lymph node lumps. Unexpectedly, after using folk remedies, Ms. Wang's skin was damaged on several lymph node lumps on a large area, and pus was accumulated. She dared not apply external treatment again, and the pus that had been present in the trauma could no longer be debridement. A week later, she went to the New District Branch and found relevant experts.
This time, Ms. Wang followed the expert's opinions and conducted further puncture examinations to extract the pus. After pus gene sequencing, it was found that Hanseba was infected with bacterial infection in the whole body, and Ms. Wang was diagnosed with a rare cat scratch disease. Typical symptoms of this disease include skin lesions, erythema, papules, local lymph nodes swelling, and some patients may experience systemic symptoms such as fever, anorexia and fatigue. After Ms. Wang was diagnosed with cat scratching, she later visited the Burn Plastic Surgery Department of North District Hospital of North Jiangsu People's Hospital. After admission, Director Xu Gang's burn plastic surgery team attached great importance to it and carefully discussed the treatment plan. He first gave azithromycin and levofloxacin anti-infection combined with local dressing changes. However, Ms. Wang's right thigh skin was severely damaged and the pus could not be completely removed, making it difficult for the wound to heal. Therefore, the swollen lymph nodes were removed through surgical removal and the surrounding necrotic tissue was removed, and the wound was completely sutured.
Recently, Ms. Wang's wound has recovered well and she has been discharged from the hospital. According to the doctor, cat scratching disease is very rare. The typical symptoms are skin damage and swollen lymph nodes. After being scratched, bitten and licked by kittens, erythema and papules with a diameter of 3 to 4 mm may appear on the skin lesions. This primary lesions are considered as the site of Hansaiba’s whole body inoculation. The disease is also very easy to misdiagnose because it is not easy to determine.
Later, after recalling Ms. Wang, a patient, she did buy a kitten in the flower and bird market seven or eight months ago and kept it for a while. During the epidemic in August last year, the kitten was lost. Ms. Wang was caught by a cat once, but her skin was not obviously damaged at that time, so she didn't care.
Director Zhang Shuai introduced that with the continuous improvement of the living standards of our people, more and more pets are raised at home. Due to long-term close contact, pet bites and scratches are often caused by pets. Most people only get vaccinated by rabies, but they don’t know that there is another cat claw disease that is often ignored by people, resulting in serious consequences.
Understand cat scratch disease
Cat scratch disease, also known as benign lymph node reticulocytes, is a systemic infectious disease. Characterized by drainage lymphadenitis, it is often a history of being scratched or bitten by cats. The "real murderer" that causes this disease is Bartonite. Domestic cats can maintain Bartonite bacteremia for a long time without causing illness. They are the storage hosts of Bartonite. Once a person is scratched or bittened by a cat, he may suffer from cat scratching.
What are the symptoms and signs of cat scratching?
Generally, after being infected (bited or scratched by a cat), the skin near the wound will become red and swollen, looking like a round lump or papule, and the lymph nodes in the corresponding area will be swollen; there may also be atypical clinical manifestations such as fever, headache, fatigue and decreased appetite; in rare cases, there will be impaired consciousness, abnormal vision, and liver disease.
What should I do if the symptoms of cat scratch disease occur?
When the above symptoms occur, you need to be careful and vigilant. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital with testing qualifications to check to determine whether you are sick. If a disease is diagnosed, some symptoms will disappear on their own within a few weeks, and doctors usually prescribe antibiotics for treatment. At the same time, don’t forget to perform physical examinations and insect removal on the cat at the same time.
How to avoid cat scratching?
·
Regular deworming
·
ectoparasites such as fleas and lice are the main transmission vectors of Barton. Deworming cats can effectively prevent cats from catching diseases.
·
Cats do not need to "walk"
·
Reducing the chance of going out can reduce the chance of contact with fleas, and at the same time avoid contact with other "meats" that may be infected.
·
Hand hygiene
·
After "joking a cat", wash your hands with soapy water. Do not let the cat lick your wounds, and try to avoid teasing stray or wild cats.
·
susceptible population
·
patients with immunocompromised and heart valve disease should avoid contact with cats (especially kittens).
Don't just focus on being happy with cat petting. You should pay attention to what you should pay attention to. Especially when you have special symptoms, you must seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
