After a new coronavirus case was diagnosed in Chengdu, the pet cat at home was locked in the bathroom alone for 3 days. After learning about this situation, the disease control staff of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone brought cat food and canned cats to the pet cat to collect nucleic acid samples. After the anal swab, the disease control staff also helped it change the cat litter, replaced the clean drinking water in the water basin, put fresh cat food in the cat basin, and opened the canned cat food as a reward.

This scene happened in the Poly Lily Garden Community, Shiyang Street, Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone.

On the evening of November 14, a staff member involved in the task of the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Center for Disease Control and Prevention recalled this process to the Red Star News reporter.

The staff member said that the male owner of the pet cat was a confirmed case and the female owner was quarantined. After entering the quarantine point, the cat owner told the staff that there was a cat who had been with him for many years at home and hoped that the staff could come to take care of him.

"The case just happened to have a comprehensive disinfection at home. We learned in the early stage that there was a cat at the home of the case. Therefore, in addition to disinfection, the cat also needs to be nucleic acid samples." The staff member said that in the early stage, they first contacted the community. Because I didn't know the cat's situation, I went to the pet store to ask the owner and bought cat food and canned food that the cat likes.

At around 5 pm on November 11, under the coordination of Shiyang Street Office, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Center for Disease Control and Prevention cooperated with professional disinfection, public security police and other relevant personnel, and a group of four went to the homes of confirmed cases in Poly Lily Garden Community for sampling, disinfection, pet cat testing and feeding.

"In the early stage, the homeowner told us that the cat was locked in the bathroom. When we went there, we were wearing protective clothing. At first, the cat was a little scared, but after hearing the sound, he leaned over." The other party said that because it was an anal swab, he was worried that the cat would not adapt, so the Center for Disease Control and Prevention also specially invited an experienced nucleic acid sampling staff to finish the sampling quickly. Afterwards, the staff also conducted environmental samples of the interior of the house.

The sampling ended half an hour later, and the disinfection personnel disinfected all rooms for the first time. "Because the disinfectant water has a high concentration and the noise is loud during disinfection operations, we are worried that the cat is afraid or licking the disinfectant water, so before disinfection, we put it in a pre-prepared cat cage." The other party said that after the first disinfection, the disinfectant entered the room again for the second disinfection. After disinfection, wipe it with clean water to ensure that it is correct and then open the window for ventilation.

After this process, the disinfection personnel entered the room again, followed the owner's phone instructions to clean the cat's litter box, put the canned food and cat food of the pet cat, and replaced the drinking water. "The cats were very well-behaved and cooperated throughout the whole process. They kept calling us when they left, as if they were thanking us," she said.
