In the 1/8 knockout round of the Club World Cup, Chelsea defeated Benfica 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. This game was once interrupted for 2 hours due to weather reasons, and the whole game took 4 hours and 39 minutes.

After the game, Benfica midfielder Vallero said in an interview with DAZN: "Frequent interruptions in the game are really annoying. They first said that they were pausing for half an hour, then asked us to leave, and wait for another half an hour... This is really unpleasant. Such interruptions made the players completely lose the rhythm of the game."

Speaking of stoppage time equalization and overtime teammate Prestiani was sent off after eating the second yellow, Vallero said: "We know that there are only five minutes left in the game and stoppage time, we must attack with all our strength, we believe in ourselves and finally scored. Red card? We were already very tired at the time, we were defending the whole game, and the situation became more difficult after playing one less. Despite this, we created two or three opportunities, and unfortunately we failed to win today."
