Brentford official news, the team's Korean defender Kim Chi-shu joined Kaiserslautern on loan.
South Korean U23 international Kim Chi-shu joined the German second division Kesslautern on loan for one season. The 20-year-old defender made four appearances for Brentford's first team last season and will continue to develop in Germany in the 2025-26 season. Phil Giles, director of football at Brentford, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for Jin Zhishu. He will get practical training in a high-level league. He has made significant progress since joining. We are very pleased that he made his Premier League debut last season. I wish him all the best in the new season and we will continue to pay attention to his performance."
Jin Zhishu joined Brentford from K League City South FC transfer in July 2023, and initially played for Club B. A month later, he won the first call for the South Korean adult national team, and then head coach Klinsmann selected him to the list of friendly matches against Wales and Saudi Arabia.
In the 2023-24 season, the young central defender performed stably with Brentford and entered the first team bench 8 times. Before the 2024-25 season, the club announced that it would be promoted to the first team. In December 2024, he made his post-season appearance in a 0-0 draw with Brighton at Brentford to complete his Premier League debut.
