Former Premier League referee talks about Yorke s penalty cancellation: completely incomprehensible, goalkeeper fouls against the striker

In an interview, former Premier League referee Hackett believed that Pope's move against Yorke should be called a penalty.

Arsenal vs Newcastle in the 14th minute, Yorke fell to the ground in the penalty area. The referee Gillette first called a penalty kick, then checked the VAR and confirmed that the goalkeeper touched the ball first without a penalty kick.

Hackett said: "I can't understand at all. Referee Gillette did not award a penalty after VAR intervened. This is an easy penalty. The goalkeeper fouled the forward.

This is Gillette's fourth time this season, including the referee, video assistant referee and fourth official status. This is too much. It's hard for me to understand why Arsenal did not receive a penalty."
