
Manchester City official news, the club's charity "Cities in the Community" (CITC) is recruiting e-sports course students for the 2026/27 year. Manchester City has partnered with Oldham College to deliver the course, providing students with a passion for esports and education the opportunity to combine the two.
Comprehensive and inclusive curriculum enables students to enhance relevant technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of the industry. With support from Manchester City, students have the opportunity to network with professionals in the esports industry, making valuable industry contacts.
During the course, students can earn the following qualifications:
-Level 2 Certificate in Esports (full-time/one year)
-Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports (full-time/two years) - equivalent to three A's Level course
Esports student Ronnie said: "This course allowed me to transform from a player to a coach, and I enjoyed the process very much. Coaching the team not only enhanced my self-confidence, but also allowed me to see the progress of the team, which gave me a sense of accomplishment."
Another student said: "Joining this course is because I am passionate about esports, and I am also very interested in marketing and live streaming knowledge. These courses have helped me improve my communication skills, especially for people with disabilities like me, which is very Precious. "
Esports Education Officer Oliver Gilbert said: "This course is a great way to combine students' passion for esports with educational content, helping to develop the transferable skills they will need in the future. It also provides a safe space for students to express themselves and build confidence among like-minded peers. ”
In 2024/25, the course has helped students gain 20 qualifications, supporting them in taking the next step in their careers. As part of CITC's Healthy Futures pillar, the course aims to build positive futures through education and employment pathways.
These education programs encourage and motivate young people to enter higher levels of education, employment and training by providing the necessary qualifications and skills. CITC empowers urban youth through football and promotes a healthier and progressive lifestyle.
