The Daily Mail reported that new progress has been made in the court confrontation between Tottenham and Manchester United owner Inex Group, and Tottenham clubs launched a counterattack against the chemical giant.
The incident was caused by Inex's unilateral withdrawal from the sponsorship agreement with Tottenham, and the club filed a lawsuit against the group. Tottenham recently submitted the latest legal documents to the High Court, rejecting Inex's subsequent counterclaim request.
Tottenham initially took legal action and alleged that the Ineos, headed by Sir Ratcliff, violated a five-year sponsorship agreement worth £17 million. The agreement made Inex's Grenier 4WD become the club's "official designated 4WD partner", and Tottenham demanded that the other party pay more than £11 million in compensation.
However, last month Inex launched a counterattack, accusing Tottenham of negotiating a sponsorship agreement with rival Audi during Kane's transfer to Bayern Munich and demanding that the other party pay £1 million in compensation.
Now Tottenham has fought back again. Although he admitted that he had negotiated with the German automaker, he emphasized that Ineos has no right to unilaterally terminate the agreement because the club did not eventually reach any agreement with Audi. The termination of the contract was valid, the group should pay £4.25 million to the club on December 1, and the notice of termination was not issued until December 6, the law team of Tottenham added.
Inelix Group insisted that it exercised the right of termination stipulated in the contract.
