Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing, has released a teaser on the social platform This move confirms a previous report by Bloomberg that Apple will release a series of new products equipped with M5 chips this week, including the iPad Pro and the faster Vision Pro that have been exposed online.
The core of this update is undoubtedly the next-generation M5 chip. It uses TSMC’s more advanced 3nm process. According to leaked iPad Pro benchmark data, its multi-core CPU performance is 12% higher than the M4, and its GPU performance has an astonishing 36% increase. The new MacBook Pro is expected to be equipped with a 10-core CPU version of the M5 chip, bringing significant performance and efficiency improvements.

However, apart from the powerful core, other upgrades are quite limited. The appearance design is expected to remain unchanged, with only a dark blue option echoing the iPhone 17 Pro possible. As for upgrading the camera or supporting functions such as Wi-Fi 7, this update is unlikely due to major internal changes.
More importantly, it is likely that only the 14-inch basic MacBook Pro will be released this time. High-end models equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are not expected to be released until early 2026.
Therefore, if there is no urgent need to replace the machine, now may not be the best time to upgrade. The industry generally expects that Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro, launched from the end of this year to early 2026, will usher in major innovations such as OLED screens, new exterior designs, and M6 chips. In comparison, the current M5 model is more like a transitional performance upgrade.
